US Judge Orders 30-Day Notice for Kennedy Center Changes

A US judge ordered new rules for the Kennedy Center. Officials must give 30 days written notice before major building changes.

This includes any move to demolish the building. Demolition is only a threatened possibility right now.

It is not an approved plan. The judge also ruled on Trump's name.

President Trump cannot put his name on the center. This requires approval from Congress first.

Trump wants his name added to the building. Earlier rulings also said Congress must approve this change.

The order came after a sudden closure of the center. Officials also put fencing around the building.

This led Kennedy Center trustee Joyce Beatty to seek emergency court action. Congress had approved $257 million for repairs.

Trump linked those repairs to his plan for adding his name. The new order requires written notice only. It does not require judges to approve changes in advance.

Klear Note — The notice rule gives Congress time to respond before major work begins. Congressional approval means lawmakers must authorize putting Trump's name on the building.
