US Judge Reinstates Seattle Prosecutor After Blocking Trump Firing
A federal judge blocked President Donald Trump's firing of Roger Rogoff. Rogoff is the court-appointed top US prosecutor in Seattle.
The judge reinstated him until the Senate confirms a replacement. Judge Stanley Bastian is from the Eastern District of Washington.
He heard the case after Seattle judges stepped aside. Bastian ruled the president cannot fire a court-appointed prosecutor on his own.
Judges in the Western District of Washington chose Rogoff in July. All of them agreed.
This came after Trump had not put forward a Senate-confirmed replacement. Trump fired Rogoff less than an hour after he was sworn in.
Klear Note — court-appointed means Chosen by judges instead of the president.
