US Justice Department Approves Paramount Warner Bros Merger
The US Justice Department approved a merger between Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery.
The deal is worth about $110 billion. The merger will unite CBS News and CNN under one company.
It also brings HBO into the same group. The Ellison family controls Paramount Skydance.
The deal is expected to close in mid-2026. But it still needs approval from Warner Bros.
Discovery shareholders. The UK is also reviewing the deal separately.
Britain's Competition and Markets Authority opened a new investigation. So US approval does not end all reviews. State lawyers could still file a legal challenge too.
Klear Note — Media mergers need government approval to prevent one company from controlling too much. The Justice Department reviews deals to protect competition and consumers.
