US Keeps Striking Iran After Helicopter Shot Down
US forces launched strikes against Iran on Tuesday evening. The strikes came after Iran shot down a US Army Apache helicopter.
The helicopter went down over the Strait of Hormuz near Oman's coast. Both crew members were rescued safely by a US Navy drone.
The US said the strikes were a response to Iranian aggression. They hit Iranian air defense sites and radar near the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran then launched drone and missile attacks on US bases. Those bases were in Jordan, Bahrain and Kuwait.
After the strikes President Trump warned Iran will "pay the price." He said Iran was taking too long to negotiate a deal to end the war. Trump made that statement on the morning of June 10.
Klear Note — The Strait of Hormuz is a narrow waterway between Iran and Oman. About one-third of world's oil passes through it daily. US and Iran have had tensions there for years.
