US Keeps Striking Iran as Ceasefire Talks Continue

The US military struck targets in southern Iran on Monday. Targets included boats laying mines and missile launch sites.

US and Iranian forces also clashed near the Strait of Hormuz. This happened during ongoing ceasefire talks between the two countries.

President Trump said on social media that talks were going well. He said plans to extend the ceasefire and reopen the strait were moving forward.

But Trump warned he would return to the battlefield if no deal is reached. Iran's supreme leader Mojtaba Khamenei responded on his Telegram channel.

He said Gulf powers will no longer protect US bases in the region. Iran's military formally warned it will strike back for what it calls ceasefire violations.

Iran's foreign ministry accused the US of repeated naval harassment. The two countries are discussing a plan to end their three-month war.

The plan includes a 60-day ceasefire extension and further nuclear talks. Trump is also moving toward Iran's position on destroying enriched uranium.
