US Primary Elections Set Stage for November Midterms
Primary elections were held across the US on Tuesday. Voters chose candidates for key House and Senate races in November.
Voting took place in six states including California, Iowa and New Jersey. Democrats are trying to remove Republicans in New Jersey and Iowa.
The midterm year is expected to favor Democrats overall. In California the governor primary race stayed close.
Vote counting continued on Wednesday morning. Republican Steve Hilton is a former UK political worker and Fox News host.
Democrat Xavier Becerra is his likely rival in the general election. Both candidates spoke to supporters as voters cast ballots.
Klear Note — Midterm elections happen every two years between presidential elections. Voters choose members of Congress and other officials. These elections often shift power between political parties.
