US Representative Kaptur Hospitalized After Toledo Crash
US Representative Marcy Kaptur was hospitalized after a crash in Toledo, Ohio on Sunday. Kaptur is a Democratic representative from Ohio.
She was a passenger in a two-vehicle hit-and-run collision. Kaptur was on her way to church when the crash happened.
She is alert and being treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The crash happened near Detroit and Central Avenues around 10:45 to 11 a.m.
A second unidentified person was also hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. Sgt.
Mohamad Nasser is a spokesperson for the Toledo Police Department. He said two people were taken to the hospital after the crash.
He said police are still investigating. Witnesses said the other driver was picked up by a third vehicle.
That driver then fled the scene, reports say. No suspect has been identified.
Kaptur is 80 years old. She is one of the longest-serving members of Congress. She first won election in 1982.
