US Senator Lindsey Graham Dies at 71
Senator Lindsey Graham has died at age 71. He was a Republican from South Carolina.
Graham died on Saturday evening from a brief sudden illness. He had just returned from Kyiv, Ukraine on Friday.
There he met Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky. Graham was running for re-election in November.
He had served in the Senate since 2003. Graham led the Senate Budget Committee.
He recently announced a Russia sanctions deal with the Trump administration. Tributes came from President Trump Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu Zelensky and Senate leader John Thune.
South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster also paid tribute. State law lets McMaster choose a temporary replacement. That person will serve until January.
