US Strikes Iran After Ship Attack During Ceasefire
Iran attacked a cargo ship in the Strait of Hormuz. The US military then launched strikes on Iran in response.
US forces hit Iranian missile storage sites and coastal radar locations. The attack happened during a 60-day ceasefire between the two countries.
Trump said Iran broke the ceasefire agreement signed last week. He called Iran's ship attack a "foolish" act.
Trump warned reporters at the White House that retaliation was coming. Iran's parliament security chief said the US struck "in the middle of negotiations." Both sides dispute who broke the ceasefire first.
The ceasefire came from a deal signed by Trump and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on 17 June. US Vice President JD Vance traveled to Switzerland last weekend for follow-up peace talks.
