The US military launched airstrikes on Iran on Sunday. The strikes came after American troops were killed.

CENTCOM said the strikes hit Revolutionary Guard sites. Targets included coastal air-defense and missile and drone storage sites.

Iranian officials say at least 50 people were killed. They say 517 people were wounded in the strikes.

A US service member was killed in northern Iraq on Saturday. He died while troops were disposing of an Iranian drone.

A second service member was wounded in the same incident. Human remains were recovered in Jordan.

This followed an earlier Iranian attack that killed two soldiers. That attack also left another soldier missing.

Iran had fired missiles toward Jordan in that attack. Jordan's military said it shot down three of the missiles.

A fourth missile landed in a remote area. The attacks risked spreading the conflict into nearby Israel.

Israel intercepted projectiles near Eilat as tensions rose. Reports say the total US death toll in the conflict has reached 18.
