US Strikes Iranian Rocket Launchers on Larak Island
US forces struck two Iranian rocket launchers on Sunday. The launchers were on Larak Island in the Strait of Hormuz.
This was the first known US strike on Iran in weeks. The US said it wanted to stop mines from being laid there.
It said Iran's Revolutionary Guard forces were preparing rockets with sea mines. The US had cleared mines from shipping routes the week before.
Iran said the strike killed some civilians. It also reported fighters and civilians killed or wounded.
Iranian officials threatened to retaliate. Days earlier Trump officials said they would focus on economic pressure.
They hoped this would help end the war with Iran. The last major US strikes on Iran were in late July.
The war began on February 28 2026 with US and Israeli strikes. Iran then struck back.
The war has blocked the Strait of Hormuz. About one-fifth of world oil passes through there.
