US Submarine Sinks Iranian Warship

A US submarine sank an Iranian warship in the Indian Ocean off Sri Lanka. The warship was named the Dena.

US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced the sinking on Wednesday, March 4. Sri Lankan authorities rescued 32 sailors from the crew of 180.

Some crew members remain missing. Rescue teams are searching for them.

This was the first such strike by the US Navy since World War II. The attack raises fears the Iran conflict is spreading beyond the Middle East.

Klear Note This is the first time the US Navy has sunk a warship since World War II ended in 1945. The Indian Ocean is a major shipping route between Europe, Asia, and Africa.
