US Submarine Sinks Iranian Warship

A US submarine sank an Iranian warship on Tuesday. It used a torpedo to destroy the ship.

More than 80 people were killed onboard. A second Iranian ship then sailed near Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka is an island in the Indian Ocean. The ship asked for emergency permission to dock there.

This happened in response to the frigate sinking. Sri Lankan minister Nalinda Jayatissa told parliament on Thursday.

Klear Note The US and Iran have had tense relations for decades. Naval incidents in shared waters can quickly escalate tensions between countries.
