US Supreme Court Blocks Trump From Removing Fed Governor

The US Supreme Court voted 5 to 4 on June 29 2026. It ruled that Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook must stay on the Fed board.

The court blocked Trump's attempt to remove her. Judges found Trump did not follow proper steps before firing her.

The court did not decide if Trump can remove her later. Trump posted on Truth Social vowing to act right away.

He still plans to remove Cook from the Fed board. Separately Trump criticized the Federal Reserve.

He said Fed official Kevin Warsh must do what he needs to on interest rates. Warsh said inflation is easing and expectations are getting closer to normal. His comments were softer than the Fed's position from its June meeting.
