US Supreme Court Extends Abortion Pill Access Three More Days
The US Supreme Court has extended full access to the abortion pill mifepristone. Access continues for at least three more days.
Justice Samuel Alito paused a lower court ruling that would have blocked mail access to the pill. The pause lasts until at least Thursday at 5 p.m.
Eastern time. This follows an earlier one-week pause Alito issued on May 4.
Full access includes getting the pill through telemedicine and mail. After Thursday Alito could extend the pause further or let it end.
The full court could also step in and act. The Trump administration did not file a brief defending the rules around mifepristone. Both sides took that silence as support for the lower court ruling.
Klear Note — Mifepristone is a pill used to end early pregnancies. The Supreme Court is deciding if people can get it by mail.
