US Supreme Court Orders Missouri to Use 2022 Election Map
The US Supreme Court ordered Missouri to use its 2022 map. This map will apply to the 2026 midterm elections.
The order blocks the state's newer 2025 map. A lower court had ruled the 2025 map could return.
That ruling would have helped Republicans in a key district. The Supreme Court has now rejected this map three times.
Missouri Republicans had pushed for the 2025 map. Republican state lawmakers passed it to boost their party's chances.
The court said switching maps now could confuse voters. Absentee voting had already started before the ruling.
Missouri officials said returning to the old map could confuse people. Some voters had already voted in the primary using the 2025 map.
So voters will face a different map in November. That map differs from the one used in the primary.
These elections will decide who controls Congress. The ruling ended a long legal fight over which map to use.
