US Supreme Court Strikes Down Trump Tariffs New Ones Hit 80 Countries
The US Supreme Court struck down Trump's emergency tariffs. Judges said many of the earlier tariffs were illegal.
In response the White House used a different trade law. That law is linked to alleged human rights abuses.
Using it Trump placed fresh tariffs on more than 80 countries. The new tariffs replace a 10% global duty.
That duty was due to expire soon. The new tariffs also replace the ones the Supreme Court struck down.
The move caused criticism and protests from US allies and trading partners. Australia and the European Union condemned the tariffs.
