US Supreme Court Temporarily Allows White House Ballroom Work
The US Supreme Court temporarily allowed work to continue on President Trump's planned White House ballroom. This includes construction above ground.
The court paused a lower-court order that would have stopped much of the project. Chief Justice John Roberts signed the temporary order on Friday.
It lets work continue while the court reviews the White House's emergency appeal. The lower court had ruled that above-ground construction needed approval from Congress.
Roberts's order is temporary. It does not decide if the project is legal.
The ballroom has been reported to cost $400 million. It would cover about 90,000 square feet.
The White House's East Wing was torn down in 2025. This demolition made room for the new ballroom.
