Utah Hearing Begins in Charlie Kirk Murder Case
A five-day hearing started Monday in Utah. It will decide if Tyler Robinson goes to trial for murder.
Robinson is 23 years old. He is accused of killing Charlie Kirk last year.
Kirk was a close ally of Trump and founder of Turning Point USA. Turning Point USA is a youth group.
Kirk was shot on September 10 2025 at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah. He was speaking to about 3,000 people at a Turning Point USA event.
Robinson faces charges of aggravated murder and several other counts. These include witness tampering and a violent act near a child.
He has not yet entered a plea. Prosecutors want the death penalty.
Judge Tony Graf is overseeing the hearing. Graf previously worked as a prosecutor in the same county where Kirk was killed.
Kirk's parents and his wife Erika Kirk attended the first day. Donald Trump Jr. also attended with his wife Bettina Trump.
