Vance Says Trump Misrepresented His Iran Deal Reasons
Trump said he was not motivated by Americans' money problems. He said his focus was stopping Iran from getting a nuclear weapon.
But Vice President JD Vance said on Tuesday that Trump's answer was a misrepresentation. Vance was responding to Trump's comments about his reasons for seeking an Iran deal.
Vance led a 21-hour talk with Iran in Islamabad, Pakistan in April 2026. That session ended without a deal.
The main US demand is that Iran agree not to build a nuclear weapon. Vance has also said Iran could thrive and rejoin the world economy if a deal is reached.
Klear Note — Iran's nuclear program worries the US and other countries. A nuclear-armed Iran could change Middle East security. Previous US presidents have tried different approaches to stop Iran's nuclear development.
