Virginia Votes on Redistricting Referendum Tuesday

Virginia voters are deciding on a redistricting referendum on Tuesday. The vote will determine if a new map is approved for Virginia's 11 districts in the US Congress.

If approved the map could give Democrats 10 of those 11 seats. Democrats could also gain up to 4 more seats in the next national election.

The vote is expected to be close. Many voters say they are confused by the ballot language.

The change would only last until 2030. After that a bipartisan group would take back control of drawing the maps.

Klear Note Redistricting redraws voting district lines every 10 years after the census. The party controlling redistricting can gain seats by drawing favorable maps.
