Wildfires in Washington state have forced 60000 people to leave their homes. The fires have destroyed at least 600 buildings.

Fifteen fires are burning across the state. Together they have burned over 1000 square kilometers.

The fires have hit Spokane the second-largest city in Washington state. This caused large evacuations there.

Patients from a Veterans Affairs hospital in Spokane were evacuated too. The Spokane-area fires are called the Spokane Complex Fire.

They cover about 21 square kilometers. Officials say the fires are not contained at all.

The complex includes three fires named Old Trails Fairview and Meadowview. Washington Governor Bob Ferguson declared a state of emergency.

Officials say no injuries have been reported so far. No one is currently reported missing.
