Watchdog Says DOGE Overstated Federal Savings by $110 Billion
A watchdog found that DOGE overstated its savings claims. DOGE said it saved Americans $110 billion in government spending.
The review found DOGE counted 108 leases that were already ending. DOGE also overstated its terminated contracts count by almost 2,000.
About $27.4 billion in contracts listed as canceled had not actually been canceled. The watchdog said DOGE cut less spending than it claimed.
DOGE had promised $2 trillion in total savings. It fell far short of that goal. DOGE was previously in charge of cutting government spending.
