President Emmanuel Macron held a crisis meeting Monday about wildfires. The fires are burning in the Bordeaux region of France.

They are also burning in parts of Spain. More than 300,000 people have fled their homes.

Over 250,000 of them are in France. At least one person has died in Spain from the fires.

The largest fire may have slowed down. But evacuations are still happening in both countries.

France is having its biggest peacetime evacuation since World War II. The town of Le Porge is west of Bordeaux.

It has about 3,500 residents and has been badly damaged. Temperatures are expected to rise again by midweek.

They may reach unusually hot levels. Strong winds have eased though. This is helping firefighters battle the blazes.
