Wowcher Sorry for Email Referencing Crocodile Attack
Discount deals website Wowcher has said sorry after sending a marketing email. The subject line read 'Snap up these deals quicker than a croc can catch a kid!' The email appeared to reference a crocodile attack on a young child at a farm in England.
A three-year-old boy was reportedly thrown into a crocodile enclosure. He is reported to be in a serious but stable condition in hospital.
Police arrested a 30-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder. The email was sent on Saturday.
The attack had happened on Thursday. Wowcher said the content was 'unacceptable' and that it was 'extremely sorry.' The company also said the subject line was never approved for use. Wowcher is now urgently reviewing its marketing content.
Klear Note — Marketing emails use catchy subject lines to get people to open them. This email's phrase about crocodiles catching children was insensitive given a real child was attacked.
