Zelenskyy Says Ukraine Got No US Warning of Kyiv Attack
Overnight Russian strikes hit Kyiv, Ukraine. Deutsche Welle reported damage to power stations.
At least one person was killed. The strikes cut power to hundreds of thousands of people.
President Zelenskyy said Ukraine got no warning of the Russian ballistic strikes. He also said the US gave Ukraine no warning.
That warning concerned a Russian missile attack on Kyiv power plants. That attack was expected Sunday evening.
Zelenskyy accused Washington of “denial of reality.” Ukraine's Air Force said Western allies gave advance warning. But that warning covered only one of two overnight attacks.
The Guardian and AP described this as part of a wider strain. The strain is between Ukraine and the US.
AP pointed to recent US moves that Zelenskyy sees as helping Russia. These moves include sanctions relief and a deal to import Russian diesel. AP also said Russian attacks on Ukraine's energy system are continuing.
